Update Flooding; INC#1251; 11:00PM; 16040 W Sunset Bl; https://bit.ly/39qc601; Pacific Palisades; After a water main broke, a large volume of water threatened several apartment buildings. Firefighters did everything they could to control the flow and reduce damage. Only one of the apartment buildings has reported damage at this point. During the early stages of the incident, there were reports of someone in distress in the water. LAFD rescued one person from the water, who was uninjured. LA County Lifeguards assisted with searching the deep water in a below-grade parking level to make sure no one was stranded in a submerged vehicle. DWP is on scene to work toward shutting the water off. LAFD will remain on scene for several hours to help pump water from out of the parking garage and dewater affected apartment units. Rather than evacuating residents, firefighters made the decision to shelter in place, as the parking garage was the most affected area. Update Brush Fire; INC#0901; 06:33PM; 5701 S Lincoln Bl; https://bit.ly/3998uiB; Playa del Rey; KNOCKDOWN: 54 firefighters battled through difficult access and heavy brush to extinguish the fire in two hours with no injuries reported. The fire was held to five acres, kept wholly within the brush area at Ballona Creek. There were no structures damaged. Los Angeles County Fire Department provided one water-dropping helicopter and two hand crews to assist with the operation.
