Crews ascended ladders to the roof to vertically ventilate the structure, while other companies deployed hose lines for an interior fire attack. It took 36 firefighters 13 minutes from the time of alarm to extinguish the flames. One adult male patient was found with burn injuries, who was treated and transported to a local hospital by LAFD paramedics. Ground crews were unable to bring apparatus to the patient's location due to the terrain, therefore LAFD Air Operations utilized a hoist operation. Rescuers were lowered down to the patient to assess, treat, and prepare the patient for a hoist. LAFD Air Operations hoisted and transported the patient by air to a local hospital. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0895; 02:19PM; 20251 W Sherman Wy; https://bit.ly/43KraQW; #Winnetka; Firefighters found a *three-story* garden-style apartment complex with fire in one second-floor unit. Firefighters deployed hose lines to the unit and quickly extinguished the flames and keeping the fire from spreading vertically or horizontally. The apartment above was affected by smoke and the unit below was affected by water due to the necessary fire suppression efforts. It took 34 firefighters 19 minutes to extinguish the flames. One patient was assessed for minor smoke inhalation, but declined hospital transport. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1636; 09:58PM; 14522 W Gault St; https://bit.ly/4aobu8G; #VanNuys; Firefighters found fire in one unit of a (approximately 10-unit) two-story garden-style residential condos/townhomes with fire on the first floor of one unit. Crews made access to the unit and extended hose lines through tight spaces among excessive storage to access the fire. Ultimately, it took 30 firefighters 15 minutes to access, confine, and fully extinguish the fire, successfully protecting adjacent units from the nearby flames. No reported injuries.
