Crews deployed handlines to the rear of the two-story home in the front and contained the fire to just the heavily damaged garage. It took 30 firefighters 22 minutes to extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. Update Hazardous Materials; INC#0903; 02:40PM; 20750 W Marilla St; https://bit.ly/4ceULFb; #Chatsworth; LAFD's Hazardous Materials specialists continue to investigate the identity and source of the vapor cloud coming from an outdoor storage area behind a large one-story commercial building. The 31 occupants of the building have been safely evacuated. Paramedics evaluated eight people. Seven declined hospital transport. One person (approximately 50-year-old male) was transported with only minor medical complaints. PIO Captain Adam Van Gerpen is on scene for media requests. Firefighters are helping the (approximately 70) occupants of the building to evacuate. They will isolate the hazard area and deny entry until the nature of the vapor cloud is known. No reported patients. There is no known offsite hazard. Crews extricated two trapped victims from the wreckage, using hydraulic rescue tools. Both trapped patients were transported to a nearby trauma center in critical condition.
