Crews initiated a fire attack and found smoke coming from one room. While extinguishing the contents-only fire (in one room), firefighters located a patient and carried them out of the building. The patient (age/gender unknown) is in *at least* critical condition. LAFD Arson requested for the investigation per protocol for significant injury. There are some pet birds (parrots, etc) in the backyard, sadly at least one is deceased and some injured (numbers unknown at this time). LA Animal Services notified to coordinate their care.
