Update Structure Fire; INC#1062; 04:25PM; 1119 W Hewitt St; http://bit.ly/2QOFbt6; San Fernando; No one was home in the structure (secondary residence to the rear of the property) that burned, however a functional smoke alarm in that living space is what alerted a neighbor, who called 9-1-1 and contributed to firefighters being able to arrive in time to save all surrounding structures. Sadly, there was one canine home at the time, who ultimately perished during the fire. An interior fire attack with coordinated ventilation took care of the hazard, and subsequent primary and secondary searches confirmed that no one was inside the structure in harm's way. No occupants were found during a primary search, but firefighters did rescue a canine from inside the structure.
