Structure Fire; INC#0289; 07:39AM; 13557 W Mineola St; https://bit.ly/2K3XOoz; Arleta; LAFD arrived to find a one-story single-family home with heavy smoke coming from the attached garage. 33 firefighters performed a well-coordinated interior fire attack with rooftop ventilation and knocked down the bulk of the flames inside the garage of the 1,192 sq-ft home in 32 minutes, keeping it from extending into the living space. Firefighters performed a thorough search of the attic and wall spaces for extension of fire, finding no additional heat spread. One elderly occupant was inside, but in an area not affected by the fire. LAFD firefighter-paramedics removed her from the home early in the incident and performed a medical assessment as a precaution. She was unaffected by the fire or smoke. No reported injuries. While not yet confirmed, initial reports indicate the fire may have arisen from an electrocution to the patient. Firefighters knocked down the fire and then located the deceased patient inside the structure. All questions regarding cause of death will be handled by LA County Corner.
