It took 30 firefighters 33 minutes to shield belongings in the living space below, and access/extinguish the flames in the attic. Firefighters made access from above and below to reach all areas of attic involvement. No reported injuries. Update Civilian Fatality Structure Fire; INC#0071; 02:45AM; 10788 N Las Lunitas Av; https://bit.ly/2XR4uhX; Tujunga; Despite the efforts of LAFD Paramedics, the elder adult female earlier rescued by firefighters from the burning home in grave condition, proved beyond medical help, and is dead at the scene. There are pockets of fire remaining that are difficult to reach due to location and structural integrity concerns of the building. While official knockdown has not yet been declared, the bulk of the fire is extinguished. This will be an extended operation and crews continue to apply master streams while working to reach the difficult spots. Resources will be on scene throughout the night. Please avoid the area. There are no injuries reported. The incident commander transition the fire ground into a defensive operation, pulling all crews out from the interior and off the roof. Firefighters are establishing master streams. The business is a 'dollar store' type with heavy fire load inside which will likely create challenges reaching all pockets of the fire.
