Update Hazardous Materials Investigation 06/11/2022 INC#1162

Update Hazardous Materials Investigation; INC#1162; 07:00PM; 333 Universal Hollywood Dr; https://bit.ly/3mH2SCA; #StudioCity; A thorough inspection and methodical evaluation of the hotel room in question by an LAFD Hazardous Materials team yielded an unspecified quantity of black tar heroin, within which was a barely discernable trace of fentanyl sensed only by comprehensive instrumental testing. No other person than the young adult male hotel room occupant required medical attention or complained of any illness. The man was taken to an area hospital in fair condition. No escalating or off-site hazard was identified. Contrary to public rumor, LAFD Hazmat experts did NOT discover any "white powder" or "powdered substance" within the hotel room. L.A. Hazardous Material Investigation 06/11/2022 INC#1162

Hazardous Material Investigation; INC#1162; 04:21PM; 333 Universal Hollywood Dr; https://bit.ly/3mH2SCA; #StudioCity; PRELIM: Summoned to investigate an unresponsive person in a 9th floor hotel room, LAPD and LAFD discovered (handwritten?) warning sign(s) telling others not to enter that room due to the presence of a potentially hazardous substance. The immediate area on floor 9 was calmly isolated, and nearby persons sheltered in place as an LAFD Hazardous Materials team assisted first arriving LAFD responders who have safely gained access to and are now treating the one "viable" male patient with unspecified symptoms found within the room. No escalating or off-site hazard has been identified, and there are no other persons at scene requiring medical attention or experiencing illness. It is expected that the one male patient discovered within the room (unknown age / condition / affiliation / circumstances) will be taken to an area hospital. No other injuries reported. Firefighters are assisting the California Highway Patrol, Caltrans and Coroner's Office with the discreet and dignified removal of remains. One or more freeway lanes will remain closed until emergency operations and the CHP investigation is complete, unknown duration. Expect congestion and delay.
