Update Water Flow; INC#0712; 12:45PM; 5407 N Colfax Av; https://bit.ly/3Krnfn1; Valley Village; At approximately 10:30AM, LAFD responded to 10 ‘Water flow’ calls in the same general area of North Hollywood. All but one was found to be false, no water issues. At 5407 Colfax, firefighters located a broken water pipe in a 4th floor unit of a large apartment complex. Crews conducted a dewatering operation, limiting water damage to the four units vertically aligned under the break. Those units will be uninhabitable and American Red Cross Los Angeles is responding to assist the displaced residents with their immediate needs. LAFD is providing those families with S.A.V.E. Cards (Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency), which are funded through the CA Fire Foundation. The cause of the water alarms in the area is unknown at this time. LA DWP is investigating. Firefighters are working to redirect the water and conduct salvage operations to protect the lower level apartments from water damage. A reported electrical fire on the 10th floor is now out -- firefighters ascended via stairwells to assess and confirm a knockdown of all flames. Three burn patients (workers with age/gender/condition unknown at this time) will be treated and transported by LAFD paramedics. Update FATALITY Long Fall ; INC#1154; 03:24PM; 7400 N Canoga Av; https://bit.ly/4ovyA3s; Canoga Park; An approximately 44 year old male fell 35 feet onto a 10 foot high iron fence while trimming a palm tree. Tragically, this fall rendered the patient beyond medical help. An LAFD USAR team will utilize a high angle rope system to carefully recover his body, which is currently covered by a sheet and shielded from public view by a tarp to preserve the decedent's dignity. The Mayor's Crisis Response Team is en route to the scene to provide emotional support to fellow workers. LA County Coroner's office was notified and will assume responsibility of the body upon arrival. Any additional inquiries can be directed to LAPD Topanga Division INC #2890. Unfortunately, the worker succumbed to his injuries and was determined dead by LAFD. Traffic Collision - LAFD Involved; INC#1389; 08:00PM; 8700 N Woodman Av; https://bit.ly/3KqaWaj; Arleta; An LAFD Rescue Ambulance was transporting an elderly male (94M) accompanied by an elderly female (81F) to a local hospital when the collision with an SUV occured. A total of 5 patients are being transported to local hospitals. A male (34M) driving the SUV is being transported to a local trauma center in critical condition. 2 LAFD members (the driver and attendant) as well as the original patient and additional passenger are also being transported to local hospitals in fair condition with unknown injuries.
