An LAFD Flight Paramedic has been lowered to the patient to complete a medical assessment, before they are both soon hoisted into the hovering helicopter. The man is not desirous of hospital transport. His 95 year-old female neighbor has been taken to an area hospital by LAFD Paramedics in fair condition, following exposure to smoke from the fire. No other injuries reported. The fire cause remains under investigation. Knockdown - Structure Fire; INC#0499; 09:55AM; 21801 W Burbank Bl; https://bit.ly/3MhWY7p; #WoodlandHills; 43 LAFD Firefighters took just 26 minutes to access, confine and fully extinguish a vehicle and contents within the attached garage of an 1,800 square foot three-story condominium (two occupied floors above the first floor garage), that was heavily involved with fire on LAFD arrival. Though intense heat and thick smoke charged the structure, firefighters skillfully prevented the flames from extending above the garage level. Two adult civilians (unknown affiliation) sustained non-life threatening injury. They include a 45 year-old male with burn injury to his neck, and a 95 year-old female with minor respiratory complaints following smoke exposure. No ambulance transports yet. The restaurant (wine bar) is in a row of commercial units (50' x 75') and the fire was contained, preventing it from extending beyond the original unit. Overhaul operations will be continuing into the morning commute and drivers are advised to avoid the area on Ventura Blvd between Greenbush Ave and Allott Ave. Cause and $ loss TBD. One adult male patient was transported with multiple bee stings (condition unknown). One adult male (believed to be LAPD volunteer officer or community patrol volunteer) was transported after sustaining an injury while moving away from the bee swarm. Firefighters are informing residents in the area to remain indoors and close all windows/doors. A professional bee removal vendor is required to address the bee swarm.
