FORWARD PROGRESS STOPPED Brush Fire; INC#1059; 04:15PM; 11460 W Foothill Bl; https://bit.ly/2XaMUI5; Lake View Terrace; All Forward Progress Stopped: With an aggressive coordinated aerial and ground attack, 60 LAFD firefighters combined with a full brush response from #LACoFD stopped all forward progress of a grass fire, holding it to 1.5 acres. The firefighters will continue to conduct mop up operations to ensure no hot spots remain. No injuries reported. Hiker Rescue; INC#1142; 03:57PM; 8406 La Tuna Canyon Rd; https://bit.ly/3qRsvpN; #ShadowHills; Two females were hiking with the three dogs in a remote area of La Tuna Canyon, when sadly, one of the beloved pets experienced a medical emergency and passed away. Firefighters hiked in to assist the small group. Due to the timing of the situation, exhaustion was growing and daylight was dwindling, so firefighters on the ground called for LAFD Air Operations to hoist the two hikers and two remaining pets from the remote location, then firefighters hiked back out with the deceased pet, which was returned to the owner. Firefighters extinguished the remaining flames, and are now working to shut off the sprinkler flow and evacuate smoke from the structure. No reported injuries. It took 18 firefighters 18 minutes to extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. Update Flooding; INC#1223; 07:00PM; 3995 N Avenida Del Sol; https://bit.ly/3Pbm0bn; #StudioCity; Prior to 7:00 PM, firefighters and LADWP responders were able to stop the high pressure, high volume flow of water from a fire hydrant sheared by a vehicle that departed the scene prior to their arrival. Damaged by floodwater were the unoccupied sanctuary and as many as *five* unoccupied classrooms at nearby Saint Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church. Firefighters are continuing their hours long effort to sweep water and salvage precious contents from the sanctuary and classrooms. The L.A Department of Building & Safety has been summoned (unknown ETA) to formally evaluate the extent of damage to the buildings.
