Confined Space Rescue; INC#1245; 06:09PM; 18900 W Knapp St; https://bit.ly/3nnQCuv; #Northridge; Homeowner stated 50 year-old male plumber entered crawlspace in (3 foot maximimum) raised foundation beneath their 2,100 square foot one-story home (built 1958), as many as three hours prior, and was not seen or heard from since, and not responsive to homeowner shouts or noise. LAFD crews, including those specially trained and equipped in Urban Search & Rescue arrived quickly to ventilate and monitor the enclosed environment, and soon visibly noted a small portion of the still unresponsive worker's body at a distance. Firefighters cutting the second of two holes in the home's floor with chainsaws to gain best access, and to assist in his efficient removal, awakened the sleeping worker, who soon thereafter crawled from beneath the home uninjured. One adult female civilian (unknown age / gender / condition/ site affiliation / circumstances) has been transported to an area hospital for a yet to be determined medical need. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0662; 12:17PM; 7727 N Lankershim Bl; https://bit.ly/40gnELB; Sun Valley; KNOCKDOWN: Over 80 firefighters extinguished the fire in 33 minutes. The flames were out the 2nd floor window and lapping up to the 3rd floor upon LAFD arrival. Firefighters conducted an interior attack on both floors and primarily held the blaze to the unit of origin. The extent of damage to the unit above is being determined. Two patients were transported with serious burn injuries. A thorough search of the involved units and the rest of the floors impacted by the smoke is underway to determine if any other occupants require medical attention. Per protocol for burn injuries, LAFD Arson section is responding for the investigation. LAFD PIOs are enroute for media availability. Structure Fire; INC#1403; 06:48PM; 9105 N De Garmo Av; https://bit.ly/3ncCEvv; Sun Valley; One story (50' x 50') commercial building with an electrical panel visibly arcing (high voltage). The arcing ignited trash on the floor of the room which firefighters carefully extinguished, ensuring they did not apply water to any electrical components. LA DWP is enroute to safely de-energize the building so firefighters can then make entry and fully extinguish any remaining fire. There is currently no extension to the structure itself and no other structures are threatened. No injuries reported.
