Firefighters initiated fire attack from the roof and interior simultaneously, while also coordinating salvage operations within the home to protect property from water damage. This fire proved stubborn -- crews chased it into the walls of the home before finally declaring knockdown in 35 minutes with 47 firefighters working on scene. First-arriving companies proceeded in the offensive mode, made access to an apartment on the second floor, and found fire in a closet. Knockdown declared in 20 minutes from initial 911 contact.
