Firefighters achieved extinguishment in 28 minutes, primarily via the roof, due to extensive interior access issues. LAFD Cannabis Unit and LAPD notified. The patient (initially estimated 35M, now confirmed ***25M***) transported in critical condition and one fatality (30M) were traveling in a van; two further fatalities (20M, 20F) were in a Ford Mustang; three patients in a third vehicle declined treatment and transport. Trapped patient extricated by fire companies and transported by paramedics to a local hospital. Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#1942; 09:45PM; 6351 N Woodman Av; https://bit.ly/455c2zn; Valley Glen; First-arriving companies found fire showing from the facade above a strip mall, reportedly spread from a dumpster fire — firefighters quickly coordinated fire attack and protection of the strip mall’s interior spaces. Rapid fire spread required companies to open the structure’s entire facade to ensure all flames were extinguished. Knockdown in 45 minutes with 63 firefighters working on scene. No injuries reported; cause under active investigation. Update KNOCKDOWN Automobile Fire; INC#0524; 09:20AM; 11460 W Foothill Bl; https://bit.ly/3I9koKu; Hansen Dam; Command staff on scene, known as Foothill IC, confirms the bulk of the fire is knocked down. LAFD HazMat Units will continue to monitor air quality as well as water runoff due to the bus being powered by lithium ion batteries. The overhaul procedures at this incident will likely continue for the next 3-4 hours. No children were on the LA Unified School District bus at the time of the fire. The driver (unknown age/gender) was transported to a local hospital for minor smoke inhalation complaints. CHP is closing the WB 210 freeway at Osborne St. for an unknown amount of time. LAPD has closed Foothill Bl in both directions at the 210 freeway underpass. Cause of fire is unknown. No injuries to LAFD personnel reported. A 3rd delayed patient, a 32M, was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. No injuries reported to firefighters.
