This was a difficult fire because it originated in the walls of two story apartment unit with common attic. The fire ran up (within) the wall to the attic and started spreading horizontally. Firefighters aggressively conducted strip ventilation to stop the fire from progressing and defend the rest of the building. Initial reports of three units sustaining the most damage. No occupants were inside the structure and no injuries reported. The building has a common attic and the fire progressed up through the walls to the attic. The fire is currently impacting up to three units. The roof ventilation group has cut a 'strip ventilation' to stop progress of the fire in one direction and is working to cut another one to 'trap' the fire. Firefighters on interior fire attack continue to open walls and locate / extinguish the interior fire while additional crews conduct salvage operations to protect the unit contents.
