Firefighters forced access and quickly discovered active fire inside Unit 218. Roof and interior operations coordinated to ventilate smoke and extinguish flames in the unit of origin — knockdown in 36 minutes by first-arriving companies. Crews remain onscene to overhaul damage and assess adjacent units for fire exposure. Additionally, this massive amount of water has flooded the intersection which is now impassable. LAPD and DOT are controlling/diverting traffic, expect delays while traveling in the area. All occupants exited the building safely with the assistance of firefighters. No injuries reported to civilians or fire department personnel. Arson is responding to investigate the origin/cause of the fire.
