As the fire was quickly extinguished, firefighters discovered one person (unknown age / gender/ site affiliation / circumstances) without vital signs of life, who was determined to be dead at the scene. Firefighter-paramedics located the driver in a remote area away from the vehicle. The elderly male patient is unable to make it up the steep grade to road level. Firefighters located contents burning in a bathroom. Firefighters arrived in time to extinguish the flames prior to structural involvement. It took 26 firefighters just 14 minutes from the time of alarm to declare a "knockdown" of the fire (10:46 AM). No reported injuries. Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0385; 10:12AM; 7035 W Floramorgan Tl; https://bit.ly/3ejqHwQ; Tujunga; 49 firefighters defended nearby homes and heavy brush during a structure fire in a small 835 sq-ft two-story descending hillside home. The fire was well-developed on the bottom floor when firefighters arrived, and it was already extending to the upper floor. Structural integrity was in question and led firefighters to use defensive tactics, remaining outside and flowing water inward. It took 69 minutes to extinguish the fire, while skillfully keeping the flames confined to the home-of-origin (no brush or other structures involved). Thankfully, the occupant(s) evacuated safely.
