KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0367; 08:48AM; 15354 W Archwood St; https://bit.ly/31jRK7e; Van Nuys; KNOCKDOWN: 28 firefighters extinguished the fire in 19 minutes. This was determined to be an outside fire that extended into the vacant structure. Firefighters quickly addressed the exposed building and limited the fire to the eves. One adult female is being evaluated for unknown (at this time) medical complaint. Update FATALITY Structure Fire - FATALITY; INC#1272; 06:27PM; 20652 W Lassen St; https://bit.ly/3lqiWIG; Chatsworth; Firefighters continued searching through at least 4' of debris and located an adult female victim, determined deceased on scene. There are reports of two additional occupants who may have departed the scene prior but their locations are unknown at this time and crews continue to search the heavily packed residence. LAFD Arson and Counter-Terrorism Section is responding for the investigation per protocol for a fatality. PIO Captain Erik Scott is enroute to the scene for media availability. They encountered excessive storage conditions which hampered access to the seat of the fire. The occupant is unaccounted for and firefighters are worked to complete a primary search, made more challenging due to the storage in the home. Cliff, Vehicle; INC#1137; 05:30PM; 46 Saddlebow Rd; https://bit.ly/3d324Di; outside city; Ventura Co Fire and LAFD worked together to safely rescue an (elderly) adult male from approximately 200' down a cliff side. While his vehicle did not go down the cliff (it was teetering and a few more feet would have caused it to go down), when he exited the car he lost his balance and fell down the very steep (too steep for rescuers to walk down) hill side. VCFD helicopter conducted the hoist operation and air ambulance. Fortunately, the patient did not appear to have any life threatening injuries. LAFD Heavy Rescue is on scene to assist with pulling the vehicle back to the road. The original 9-1-1 call was received at 4:24PM.
