Update #PenroseFire Major Emergency Fire; INC#1522; 08:23PM; 11200 W Penrose St; https://bit.ly/3VeIKar; #SunValley; With 111 LAFD Firefighters assigned by ground and air, this incident, known as the "Penrose Fire". has escalated to Major Emergency status. The wind-driven fire involving grass, trees and other vegetation had already extended into a 75' x 300' one-story metal clad building on LAFD arrival. LAFD has asked CHP to close both north and southbound lanes of the Golden State (I-5) Freeway between the Hollywood (SR170) Freeway and Sunland Boulevard until LAFD operations are complete, unknown duration. Motorists, expect congestion and delay, avoid the immediate area and consider an alternate route. Detours are available. Monitor traffic reports on news radio.
