There was no immediate indication of another vehicle involved. The adult male truck driver has been transported by LAFD Paramedics to a regional trauma center in grave condition. No other injuries. Reported to be 'on its side, stuck in a narrow wedge'. Crews are getting shovels to attempt to dig out while LAFD Air Ops readies a back up plan. This is a dynamic situation with a number of options being assessed to determine the best approach. The LA Animal Services 'Specialized Mobile Animal Rescue Team (SMART) has been notified for assistance. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0814; 12:47PM; 9010 N Cedros Av; https://bit.ly/417aOyM; Panorama City; Firefighters found fire in one unoccupied unit of a two-story garden-style apartment building. Smoke was making its way into adjacent units and forcing residents to shelter on their exterior balconies. Firefighters simultaneously made entry to the fire unit with hose lines, as others ascended ladders to the roof to provide vertical ventilation. It took 43 firefighters 23 minutes to extinguish the flames. Two patients were assessed for minor smoke inhalation by Firefighter-Paramedics. Crews used blowers to mechanically ventilate all affected units and clear the smoke from the building. As they quickly extinguished the burning sedan without damage to the structure, they discovered the burned remains of an adult male adjacent to the vehicle. No other injuries were reported.
