Update Traffic Collision with Entrapment; INC#1005; 02:00PM; SB 405 Fwy x Victory Bl; https://bit.ly/48hlXBl; #VanNuys; LAFD Firefighters worked swiftly to assure the less than 20 gallons of fuel spilled on the hillside from a tank on the overturned truck, did not ignite or enter a storm drain, as their LAFD colleagues skillfully used hand and power tools to safely extricate the seriously injured adult male driver from his overturned box truck (undetermined cargo) that tumbled over-the-side and off the freeway. The man, trapped nearly 30 minutes in the wreckage, has been transported in undetermined condition to a regional trauma center by LAFD Paramedics. Firefighters located and pulled one patient off of the fire floor. The patient has burn injuries and is being assessed by firefighter/paramedics, condition currently unknown. Crews began in offensive mode, and eventually withdrew into defensive mode, due to the heavy fire load. It took 68 firefighters 35 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the flames.
