Firefighters arrived and quickly deployed hose lines as the roadside brush was being singed by flames stoked by the wind. Crews prevented the fire from extending into the brush, and extinguished the burning trash in the road in 22 minutes. No reported injuries. Thirty firefighters went to work to access, confine, and extinguish the flames in less than 20 minutes. No reported injuries. Crews initiated an aggressive interior fire attack with a coordinated vertical (rooftop) ventilation to extinguish the flames, which took 34 firefighters 14 minutes. No reported injuries. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0809; 12:49PM; 7317 N Tyrone Av; https://bit.ly/48q4dE9; #VanNuys; The first 18 firefighters to arrive quickly located burning contents, that had not yet spread to the structure itself, and rushed in with hose lines to extinguish the flames in 12 minutes from the time of alarm. Thankfully, the sole occupant and his dog both escaped unharmed, however the home was not equipped with smoke alarms. If the fire had started overnight, the outcome may have been tragic. We encourage everyone to ensure your home has functional smoke alarms. No injuries.
