KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1702; 09:47PM; 15314 Dickens St; https://bit.ly/3PsUtkZ; #ShermanOaks; Firefighters responded to an automotive shop (collision repair & paint shop) to find heavy smoke coming from inside the building. Crews made access to the inside of the building and found multiple vehicles burning inside. It took the first 28 firefighters just 18 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. Hoist Rescue; INC#1587; 06:27PM; 7600 W Verdugo Crestline Dr; https://bit.ly/49WiHw9; #Tujunga; Firefighters located a 29-year-old female in a remote area with a lower leg injury. Ground crews were unable to bring apparatus to the patient's location, therefore LAFD Air Operations utilized a hoist operation. A rescuer was lowered down to the patient to assess, treat, and prepare the patient for a hoist. LAFD Air Operations transported the patient by air to a local hospital. Update Technical Rescue; INC#0997; 02:15PM; 11250 W Wentworth St; https://bit.ly/39Oo2M8; #ShadowHills; Firefighters located one horse stuck in the mud, with the owner nearby, in a remote area of the Hansen Dam Recreation Area. Crews diverted some of the water, used shovels to partially dig the horse out, then used a tow strap and a team of firefighters to pull the horse free. LA Animal Services' Specialized Mobile Animal Rescue Team (SMART) responded and evaluated the horse. Due to trees overhead, helicopters are unable to help with a hoist. Update STATIC EXPLOSION Explosion; INC#1247; 05:38PM; 7351 N Woodman Av; https://bit.ly/3THNXcY; #VanNuys; LAFD resources on scene of a confirmed apartment explosion confined to one unit with minor damage (broken windows). Scene is static and being de-escalated with resources being released. Cause of explosion is still under investigation. LAFD Hazardous Materials Specialist will remain on scene and continue to investigate and determine the extent of damage. No injuries reported at this time and no active fire hazard. 2 Adults 1 Child are displaced, thankfully not home at the time of the explosion. Red Cross has been contacted to help facilitate the immediate needs of the family. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1821; 10:37PM; 8345 N Broadacre Dr; https://bit.ly/3TlD7aR; #Shadow Hills; LAFD firefighters battled and extinguished the stubborn fire in 19 minutes. The 1-story single family dwelling presented some difficulty with accessing the seat of the fire due to large amounts of personal property in the home. Firefighters made quick work in extinguishing the blaze with no reported injuries.
