Greater Alarm Structure Fire - Knockdown; INC#0147; 03:34AM; 13717 W Desmond St; https://bit.ly/3Mxa94E; #Pacoima; Firefighters arrived at a 50' x 120' one-story commercial building with fire through the roof at a metal processing shop. The business owner was on site and warned responders of corrosive liquids inside the business. 83 Firefighters remained in defensive mode, used water judiciously, contained the fire to just the building of origin, and extinguished the flames in 45 minutes (the building was equipped with measures to contain hazardous runoff). LAFD Hazardous Materials specialists are on scene now to decon crews if necessary, and LA County Health Hazmat has been notified. Knockdown - Structure Fire; INC#0713; 12:23PM; 11911 W Hartsook St; https://bit.ly/41UjWHE; #ValleyVillage; An LAFD Firefighter/Paramedic team clearing a nearby medical emergency was first to report and arrive at the fire, with heavy flames initially involving the first floor of the 2,217 square foot two-story home, and quickly extending to the upper floor and attic of the 87 year-old structure, which was not equipped with residential fire sprinklers. It took 44 LAFD Firefighters just 33 minutes to access, confine and fully extinguish the stubborn flames, which were confined to the structure. No injury reported. His 95 year-old female neighbor has been taken to an area hospital by LAFD Paramedics in fair condition, following exposure to smoke from the fire. No other injuries reported. The fire cause remains under investigation. Knockdown - Structure Fire; INC#0499; 09:55AM; 21801 W Burbank Bl; https://bit.ly/3MhWY7p; #WoodlandHills; 43 LAFD Firefighters took just 26 minutes to access, confine and fully extinguish a vehicle and contents within the attached garage of an 1,800 square foot three-story condominium (two occupied floors above the first floor garage), that was heavily involved with fire on LAFD arrival. Though intense heat and thick smoke charged the structure, firefighters skillfully prevented the flames from extending above the garage level. Two adult civilians (unknown affiliation) sustained non-life threatening injury. They include a 45 year-old male with burn injury to his neck, and a 95 year-old female with minor respiratory complaints following smoke exposure. No ambulance transports yet.
