A small restaurant (approx 25' x 15') had an outside cooking area where the fire started and extended into a portion of the restaurant which sustained significant damage. Firefighters extinguished the fire in 17 minutes. A 50 yo male patient sustained burn injuries to his arm when trying to extinguish the fire. He was transported to the hospital in fair condition. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1386; 05:02PM; 250 W Sepulveda St; https://bit.ly/3GyzyZc; #SanPedro; Firefighters found a vacant duplex with heavy fire showing from the rear unit. Crews began operating hose lines from the exterior, and knocked the flames back enough to continue the fight inside the structure (called a transitional attack), while other crews ascended ladders to the roof for vertical ventilation. Ultimately, it took 32 firefighters 16 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the flames, before any fire reached the other unit in the duplex. No reported injuries. Crews quickly developed a hose line and entered the burning structure to extinguish the flames in 12 minutes (declared by radio at 1:59 PM). One patient with a minor medical complaint was evaluated on scene and released. No other injuries.
