KNOCKDOWN Boat Fire; INC#0984; 03:23PM; 611 N Henry Ford Av; https://bit.ly/4aE621I; #Wilmington; Thirty-four firefighters extended hose lines onto the burning powerboat from the dock and from fire boats to extinguish the flames in 17 minutes. Firefighters successfully protected the dock, and vessels in slips on either side of the burning vessel, containing the damage to just the boat-of-origin. The quick actions of firefighters also prevented the vessel from losing buoyancy (it did not take on water or sink). No occupants were aboard at the time, and no injuries reported. Complete - Rescue ; INC#1660; 09:00PM; 701 E New Dock St; https://bit.ly/47cZkg9; #SanPedro; The adult male stranded inside the compact elevator of a dockside crane approximately 60' above ground, proved to be an elevator mechanic working on the system - and not the crane operator. LAFD responders, including those specially trained, certified and equipped to perform specialized urban search and rescue, climbed the exterior of the rain-drenched crane to a location between levels (i.e. elevator landings), where they stabilized the elevator and forced open the elevator doors. The stranded worker was medically assessed inside the small elevator (to confirm no illness or injury), before being placed into a rope and harness system to be lowered outside the elevator shaft to the next landing. He was then removed from the harness and walked down an auxiliary stairwell with firefighter assistance to ground level. The crane operator is In no medical distress. Plan A is for Firefighters to climb to the location and physically open the elevator doors. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0844; 01:46PM; 911 E 59th St; https://bit.ly/4751U85; Florence; KNOCKDOWN: Over 80 firefighters extinguished the fire in one hour and 18 minutes with no injuries reported. There are still numerous smoldering piles and smoke will be visible throughout the overhaul operation. LAFD Heavy Equipment, including the RS3 Robotic Firefighting Vehicle, are responding to move debris and allow firefighters to ensure all hot spots are out and no smoldering remains. The building is a large commercial property with a division wall separating the front from the back (A from the C side) and crews are working to keep the fire from extending beyond the wall.
