Firefighters began in a defensive mode due to heavy fire encountered on the first floor preventing access. Once initial blaze extinguished, companies transitioned to an offensive mode and made an interior attack. Fire extended through to the attic and with some fire also present in the basement. Despite the challenging circumstances, firefighters safely knocked down the fire without injury. The building was vacant upon arrival and both the primary and secondary searches found no occupants remaining inside. LAFD Arson is enroute to investigate for cause determination.
