Update Structure Fire; INC#0038; 02:27AM; 3745 S Grand Av; https://bit.ly/2ZQBx5M; Historic South-Central; Through a closely coordinated operation, ensuring no opposing hose lines and master streams did not compromise fire attack, crews conducted an offensive operation on the exposed two story commercial building working to extinguish the fire and save a large portion of the building. The original fire unit remained a defensive operation with master streams and firefighters are now beginning a transition to more hand lines to address the remaining pockets of fire. No injuries reported. LAFD Arson investigators are on scene to conduct the cause investigation per protocol for an incident of this size. Firefighters contained the fire only to the eaves and there were no injuries reported. One 42yo male patient being transported in fair condition for possible smoke inhalation. The fire is extinguished and the incident is being transitioned to CHP and Caltrans to secure the area. One lane of the freeway is still closed while firefighters continue to apply water to some smoldering areas. Update Trapped Vehicle; INC#0601; 01:00PM; 2573 Navy Way; https://bit.ly/2ZvKVeX; San Pedro; This incident is in an isolated area of the Port of LA and port operations have not been impacted. The patient transported from the semi-tractor trailer is an approximately 30yo male patient. The deceased patient from the airplane is male, age unknown. Bystanders pulled the patient from the wreckage and were directed in providing CPR via the LAFD 9-1-1 Dispatcher until LAFD firefighters arrived and assumed medical care. Media Staging is on Navy Way (near the 90 bend in the road - photo provided on @lafd tweet) with PIO Firefighter David Ortiz available to assist the media.
