KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1742; 09:30PM; 529 W 90th St; https://bit.ly/3UloeqW; #VermontVista; Firefighters responded to a property no longer occupied by the owner, where three structures are located: a front house, guest house (or "back house"), and a detached garage. Crews found heavy fire showing from the small guest house, adjacent to the detached garage. Firefighters advanced hose lines to the rear of the property and quickly applied water to the flames threatening the nearby garage. It took 24 firefighters 15 minutes to quench the flames, protecting the adjacent garage from all but minor exterior damage. No reported injuries. The flames appeared to have originated in a utility closet inside the laundromat. Flames spread into the rest of the laundromat, but firefighters prevented it from burning into adjacent businesses (minor smoke/water damage affecting the adjacent businesses). Ultimately, it took 42 firefighters 21 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. Update Structure Fire; INC#1581; 11:59PM; 502 W 77th St; https://bit.ly/3JjUynN; #VermontKnolls; LAFD Firefighters saved two dogs (uninjured) from the fire, which was fueled by excessive personal storage within the structure. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. At least 3 residents will be displaced by the fire. They are receiving temporary placement assistance and recovery guidance from the American Red Cross, and personal necessities support from the California Fire Foundation SAVE Program ( https://www.cafirefoundation.org/what-we-do/for-communities/save ). Her relationship to the site or incident have yet to be determined. She is currently in fair condition at an area hospital. No other injured persons were discovered.
