Stolen Ambulance Recovered; INC#0600; 11:00AM; 10800 S Prairie Av; #Inglewood; Firefighter-Paramedics responded to a behavioral emergency near the intersection of Gage and Hoover. While on scene, the patient (who appeared to be experiencing a psychiatric crisis) commandeered the rescue ambulance (identified as RA57) and left the scene without any ambulance personnel on board. There were no injuries as a result. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0917; 01:01PM; 800 E Florence Av; https://bit.ly/3y4tSW1; Florence; Firefighters responded to heavy fire at the corner of East Florence Avenue and McKinley Avenue, where a large storage yard was on fire (concrete walls surrounding the yard, with overhead roofing/protection built over part of the yard). Firefighters began in defensive mode, applying heavy water streams from the perimeter of the property. The intense heat caused flames to penetrate the adjacent (vacant) commercial building, where firefighters made interior access and fought back the encroaching flames from inside. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1434; 07:28PM; 715 E 59th St; https://bit.ly/3WaUzR1; #Florence; Firefighters arrived at a two-story textile/clothing store to find fire on the roof, apparently related to a construction roofing operation. The rooftop fire activated fire sprinklers in the attic, which caused the ceiling to sag and leak water to the second floor below. It took 44 firefighters 15 minutes to extinguish the rooftop fire. Crews will remain on scene to assist with dewatering the building from the fire sprinkler water. It took 44 firefighters 18 minutes from the time of alarm to respond and extinguish the flames in a one-story commercial building (former auto dealership?). No reported injuries.
