Firefighters systematically checked each elevator throughout the building and rescued at least 6 people trapped by the power outage. Two patients (adult males) were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening medical complaints. Thankfully the power has been restored and there is no additional hazard. Vegetation Fire; INC#0683; 10:48AM; 403 W Av 33; https://bit.ly/3MLNpPj; #LincolnHeights; PRELIM: LAFD ground crews are actively managing a series of small and slow-burning vegetation fires east of the Golden State Freeway / Arroyo Seco Parkway interchange, adjacent to the Arroyo Seco (Flood Control Channel) / Los Angeles River confluence. #LATraffic: In an effort to most quickly contain and extinguish the fires before they can cause infra/structure damage, the LAFD has asked the CHP to close multiple lanes on the north and southbound Golden State (I-5) Freeway and the the Arroyo Seco Parkway (SR110) near the I-5/SR110 Freeway interchange for an unknown duration. Motorists, expect congestion and delay, avoid the immediate area and consider an alternate route. Monitor traffic reports on news radio. This series of fires is considered suspicious and under active LAFD investigation as a possible criminal act. Update Structure Fire; INC#0031; 02:33AM; 1745 E 14th St; https://bit.ly/3udjCbS; Downtown; The fire load in both pallet yards is mostly consumed. Firefighters have successfully defended three exposed commercial buildings from fire extension. The fire impinged the underside of the 10 Freeway and CalTrans is on scene for freeway inspection. CHP has a full closure of the 10 Freeway with traffic being diverted EB at Alameda and WB at Santa Fe. Follow https://cad.chp.ca.gov/Traffic.aspx for traffic updates. The cross arm of high tension wire is down on 14th St with energized lines, LADWP is on scene to handle. LAFD Heavy Equipment operators are enroute to assist with moving the debris to provide firefighters access to the pockets of fire. Official knockdown is not yet declared but the overhaul operation will last throughout the morning. Update Structure Fire; INC#0031; 01:46AM; 1745 E 14th St; https://bit.ly/3udjCbS; Downtown; 26 fire companies, including one helicopter, assigned to this incident. The fire is fully involving two separate pallet yards, each approximately 200' x 200' in size. The first pallet yard is under the 10 Freeway which is now closed in both directions. There are multiple commercial buildings exposed but there does not yet appear to be any extension inside. The fire load in the first pallet yard is starting to dwindle and firefighters are holding the 2nd pallet yard fire in check while also defending the exposed buildings. LADWP is assisting with boosting the water pressure in the area to compensate for the high volume needed. CalTrans is enroute to assess any possible damage to the 10 Freeway. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes and follow CHP https://cad.chp.ca.gov/Traffic.aspx for traffic updates. This will be an extended duration operation lasting through the morning. There is a 2nd pallet yard (from Lawrence to Elwood) under the freeway and the fire extended to this 2nd pallet yard. There are additional structures exposed. Two more task forces requested, raising this to a Major Emergency structure fire.
