Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#0243; 03:38AM; 837 S Kingsley Dr; https://bit.ly/3IGIMn8; #Koreatown; LAFD responded to a 2-story vacant craftsman home to find a detached garage well involved. Crews worked quickly to extinguish the flames and minimize exposure the the vacant 2 story craftsman home and were able to scale back the remaining incoming companies. It took 28 firefighters 15 minutes to extinguish the fire.; A parked vehicle was damaged due to the high heat of the garage fire. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1234; 04:56PM; 4900 N Eagle Rock Bl; https://bit.ly/48Vf4pe; #Eagle Rock; LAFD responded to a corrected address of 4900 block of Eagle Rock to find a 1-story vacant commercial building that had moderate smoke coming from the rear. It took 52 firefighters in an offensive interior fire attack with handlines just 23 minutes to fully extinguish flames at the core of a vacant single story commercial structure. An extensive and thorough search of the building was conducted for any occupants and found none in the building. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0323; 07:12AM; 1111 W 6th St; https://bit.ly/3wSwZiN; #Westlake; Firefighters arrived to find a 4-story building with fire showing from the second floor. It took 40 firefighters 21 minutes to extinguish the fire. After firefighters entered the structure to eliminate the remainder of the flames, crews ventilated the building to remove any lingering smoke and conducted a search for any victims. No reported injuries to civilians or firefighters. Six civilians who were in our near the home at the time of the fire are being evaluated for non-specific complaints, including possible smoke exposure. The LAFD cadaver detection canine team's multi-hour search of the heavily damaged 9,100 square foot building yielded no indication of human remains. The five injured firefighters have been treated and released from medical care. No other civilian or firefighter injuries have been reported. No escalating or off-site hazards have been identified. Update Major Emergency Structure Fire; INC#0367; 10:00AM; 1400 E Newton St; https://bit.ly/4a5Xb7X; #Downtown; As the formal investigation continues into the specific cause of the fire, it has been determined this was a non-permitted cannabis operation. A pair of cadaver detection canine teams will soon arrive to address unconfirmed reports that one or more persons *may* have been within the now heavily damaged building at the time of the fire. With *one additional* firefighter having experienced an unexpected burning sensation to their face early in the fire attack, there are now a total of *five* firefighters in fair condition, being medically evaluated at an area hospital. No other civilian or firefighter injuries have been reported.
