KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire 04/05/2024 INC#0193

KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0193; 09:21AM; 1416 S Main St; https://bit.ly/3xgPvBF; #DowntownLA; Firefighters continued operating in defensive mode for several hours, knocking back flare ups from adjacent rooftops, and protecting the neighboring buildings. The commercial building contained large amounts of clothing/textiles while burned readily and continued to fuel the fire. The roof partially collapsed part way through the incident, and firefighters maintained their strategies, waiting for the rest to collapse and give hose streams a straight shot at the burning materials beneath. Remote Suppression firefighting vehicle "RS3" was used to enter the unstable structure and gain access to better suppression angles and deeper penetration. Overall, it took 120 firefighters 4 hours and 12 minutes to extinguish the flames, however much of the debris within the rubble contains extremely hot spots that will need to be uncovered by LAFD Heavy Equipment. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries.
