Firefighters on the roof created ventilation holes for the smoke and heat, while teams below located and attacked the fire inside the 1,872-square-foot structure. Full extinguishment was accomplished by 83 firefighters in 25 minutes, with no extension or injuries reported. All nearby exposures were protected, with no injuries or fatalities reported. Extensive damage, due to multiple previous burns, will be evaluated by the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety. LAFD Heavy Equipment crews are on standby for possible demolition, in the event the structure is deemed unsafe.
