Due to an inability to access the decedent by ground, an LAFD helicopter crew will perform a local short-haul hoist operation. Firefighters remain in an ‘Exposure Profile’ where the objective is to defend any exposed buildings from the smoke (non toxic materials burning). The remaining fire is isolated to one transformer (possibly two). There are no injuries reported. All pedestrians in the area were evacuated from the immediate area. Firefighters are awaiting DWP arrival. No further updates are anticipated unless there is a significant change. Crews are allowing it to burn off (high voltage electrical equipment) while ensuring the exposed building is defended and all windows closed to prevent smoke infiltration. All pedestrians around the building are being cleared out a safe distance. Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0798; 01:40PM; 2063 S Oxford Av; https://bit.ly/3OxBCok; Harvard Heights; KNOCKDOWN: 60 firefighters extinguished the fire in 49 mins with no injuries reported. Crews had to locate and access fire within walls of one portion of the large church building and chase it through to ensure there were no pockets of fire remaining. The primary and secondary searches are clear with no one located inside. The cause is under investigation. Interior fire attack located fire in the walls in a corner of the building. There appears to be a basement or crawlspace with fire and crews are working to make access. No injuries reported.
