KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0309; 07:32AM; 1224 S Hope St; https://bit.ly/3WbnXqX; Downtown; KNOCKDOWN: Nearly 100 firefighters worked for one hour and 19 minutes to extinguish the fire. The fire was contained to the building of origin and prevented from extending to the adjacent structures. The building is divided into two businesses (front and back) with a load bearing wall dividing them. The fire was in both sections of the building. The fire unit is in a row of (boarded up) commercial buildings and the fire has been contained to the unit of origin. There is no extension into the adjacent units. There are no injuries reported. Hope St is closed in both directions at Pico and commuters are advised to seek one of the many alternate routes. Firefighters are making good progress against the primary fire building. The fire appears to have breached a dividing wall and is extending into the adjacent, exposed building. Firefighters are working an offensive attack in the exposure. Commuters are advised to avoid the Hope St x W Pico area and seek the many available alternate routes. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0278; 06:18AM; 1100 W Wilshire Bl; https://bit.ly/403MOhB; Westlake; Firefighters located a dumpster fire in the basement which triggered fire sprinklers in a trash (chute) room on the 17th floor (first occupied floor above parking) and is the source of the smoke. Firefighters will work with the building engineer (who is enroute) to manipulate the HVAC system to fully ventilate the building and remove the smoke. Any occupants not already evacuated are being advised to shelter in place. Firefighters are continuing to ascend the stairwell and will check every floor to the top, to evaluate smoke conditions. There are no other fire hazards, it was contained to the dumpster fire which is now extinguished. Structure Fire; INC#0278; 05:39AM; 1100 W Wilshire Bl; https://bit.ly/403MOhB; Westlake; 38 story high rise building with smoke reported on the multiple floors, alarm activations and fire sprinkler alarm activations. The building has 16 floors of parking with 22 floors occupied. Firefighters are ascending the stairwells and checking each floor while additional firefighters are investigating the basement area to locate the source of the smoke. Occupants are evacuating the building. An auto fire extended into the single family home and spread up into the attic. Firefighters prevented the fire from extending to any of the exposed homes.
