Update Rescue 03/14/2017

Update Rescue; 08:31PM; 2331 E Chavez Av; internal:/; Boyle Heights; Two vacant bungalows with one unit fully involved and the fire extended into the second building with one additional exposure to the west. Firefighters knocked down bulk of the fire and conducting searches of all buildings due to reports of homeless typically staying in the structures. No injuries reported. Update Structure Fire; 09:11PM; 815 S Central Av; internal:/; #DTLA Official Knockdown not declared but incident clock turned off. Many resources being released while those remaining on scene continue to address hot spots. Due to safety concerns, hand lines are not being taken inside the structure. Crews will be rotated throughout the evening to continue operations. Smoke will likely be seen from the structure for several more hours. No injuries reported. Update Address Updated Structure Fire; 08:10PM; 815 S Central Av; internal:/; #DTLA Firefighters continue to make progress against the fire remaining in the attic. Master streams being shut down temporarily to reassess condition of fire and possible re-positioning to hand lines at building entrances. Large, bulky stored goods created large fire load. Appears large quantity of red chili peppers also in structure, creating an additional irritant within the smoke. Fire contained primarily to the South and East end of the L shaped building. Update Structure Fire; 07:32PM; 1253 E 8th St; internal:/; #DTLA Firefighters making good progress on the bulk of the fire, using master streams in a coordinated, defensive operation from all sides of the building. The fire has run the attic of the structure (updated to poured in place concrete 100' x 300' L shaped strip mall). Urban Search and Rescue task force has assessed the building and does not see any signs of structural compromise. Over 190 FF assigned to this Major Emergency incident. No injuries reported. S Central Ave remains closed (for indefinite period) during this extended operation. Best to avoid S Central Av from E 8th to E Olympic.
