What was initially deemed a partial wall collapse was further updated to 'stucco coming off the wall' but no damage to the structural integrity of the wall. Partial wall collapse on the back/right (C/D) corner. Incident Commander pulling all firefighters out of the structure and off the room and moving to a defensive mode. This incident is now at a Greater Alarm status with over 90 firefighters assigned. Firefighters conducted a long battle and successfully prevented a stubborn wall fire from moving into a large, working attic fire. Firefighters now moving room to room to ensure no smoke remains in any of the units. No injuries reported. LAFD Arson will investigate the cause of the fire per protocol for a Major Emergency incident. Update Structure Fire; INC#0259; 05:24AM; 729 S Normandie Av; http://bit.ly/2ExlnX3; Koreatown; Firefighters battling stubborn fire that appears to have started in the subfloor and walls of a 4 story center hall apartment building. Crews opening up walls and fire is extending through the walls with reports of fire present on 4th floor (in walls with potential for attic involvement). While residents initially sheltered in place, they are now being evacuated. There are no reported injuries. This incident is now at a Major Emergency status with over 106 firefighters assigned. LAFD PIO enroute to the Command Post (Normandie x 8th) for media inquiries.
