The fire started on the first floor and made its way up the wall to the second floor and into the attic. Crews opened up the walls and attic to access the flames. The cause of the fire is unknown. Update Structure Fire; INC#0042; 01:53AM; 328 E 18th St; http://bit.ly/2URPs84; Downtown; 79 firefighters continue to work to extinguish the fire on top of (stacked combustibles) and inside 8 storage containers outside a storage structure under the freeway. The fire inside the building was quickly extinguished however due to the difficult access and high fire load at each of the outside containers, this is an extended operation. Once the fire is knocked down, it will take the rest of the night to conduct overhaul operations to ensure no hot spots remain. LAFD resources will remain on scene so please avoid the area. Smoke may continue to impact the freeway overpass and CHP is the point of contact for any possible traffic impact. No injuries reported. The outside fire is above and inside an unknown number of these containers and will take an extended duration to dig out the fire at each container. The portion of the fire that extended into the structure is extinguished. One additional task force requested.
