The facade to the building collapsed but all firefighters were already clear of the area, anticipating the collapse. There is also one wall that shows signs of buckling. Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1005; 06:58PM; 3060 E 4th St; https://bit.ly/3dzqUZG; Boyle Heights; Responding firefighters found a two-story single-family home with a converted attic above, smoke showing. Salvage efforts began immediately to protect belongings from additional damage from the firefighting effort. After quickly moving or covering belongings a coordinated fire attack with vertical ventilation extinguished the fire consuming a converted attic and burning down to the second story. The whole effort took 30 firefighters 14 minutes. There were no reported injuries. Structure Fire; INC#1228; 08:51PM; 2121 S Main St; https://bit.ly/2ztyxSA; Historic South-Central; An outside fire extended into a commercial structure, where a fire sprinkler activated and kept the flames from spreading to the rest of the building. It took 42 firefighters 15 minutes to extinguish the fires inside and out. Firefighters will remain on scene to shut off the sprinkler and mitigate water damage.
