Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1357; 09:09PM; 1524 S Essex St; https://bit.ly/3c6cVtt; Downtown; The offensive battle continued inside of a church building (Arson Investigators attached due to house of worship involvement) as firefighters quickly extinguished an outside fire and then chased the extension through the walls, floor, and attic spaces. Ultimately, it took the first 36 firefighters 38 minutes to extinguish all of the flames hidden within the structure. No reported injuries. The building type is updated to a two story, four-plex. The fire was in a unit on the 2nd floor and firefighters stopped it with only minimal extension to the attic. The fire was prevented from extending to the adjoining unit.
