Structure Fire; INC#0064; 01:27AM; 2600 S Broadway St; https://bit.ly/3lo5un0; Historic South-Central; OVERNIGHT; Firefighters arrived at an L-shaped metal-clad commercial building used for storage to find it fully involved, with fire through the roof. Crews initiated a defensive attack on the building, which took 97 LAFD firefighters 91 minutes to fully extinguish the blaze (2:58 AM). Due to the building containing mannequin storage, a K9 has been requested to search for human remains (out of an abundance of caution), however there are currently no reported injuries or casualties. The fire, which crested a hilltop above homes, was prevented from damaging any structures. The driver of the vehicle (adult female) was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries. Questions regarding the collision are referred to CHP Log #0906. Update CONTAINED Brush Fire; INC#0759; 02:05PM; 2762 W Broadway; https://bit.ly/3jaFzxp; Eagle Rock; 59 LAFD firefighters, with the help of 2 engines and a BC from Glendale FD, extinguished the brush fire sparked by an auto fire. The initial burning brush "spotted" to the north side of Broadway in two places when embers were carried by the wind. With the help of several water drops by LAFD Air Ops, crews surrounded the burning vegetation and stopped all forward progress in 26 minutes. Crews remain on scene to continue improving containment lines and cooling any hot spots within the burn area. No reported structural damage. Due to the lack of a accessible fire hydrant to establish a water supply, additional resources are enroute to assist with the operation. Road traffic at W Ave 26 and Lacy St will be impacted due to fire hose lines crossing the road. No injuries reported and no structures threatened. Update KNOCKDOWN Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#0880; 03:52PM; 1910 S Los Angeles St; https://bit.ly/2E1S6nI; Historic South-Central; LAFD firefighters battled flames in a four-story apartment building, approximately 22,000 sq-ft built with 31 units built in 1910, for an hour and 15 minutes before declaring the fire "knocked down." Early in the incident, one 35-year-old male was rescued from the burning building and transported to a nearby hospital by LAFD with minor smoke inhalation (no burns) in fair condition. Teamwork during the fire fight among the 82 LAFD firefighters on scene provided them with the ability to sustain the attack, rotating crews in and out to avoid exhaustion and running out of air. LAFD CERT volunteers generously responded to provide hydration and rehab for firefighters during the incident. This fire appears to have started at the ground level and burned up through the walls to involve the fourth floor and attic. LAFD's Arson/Counter Terrorism Section is on scene leading the investigation.
