Firefighters made access to all sides of the primary structure, prioritizing exposure protection. Residents stated everyone was accounted for and the involved structure was not used as a dwelling -- no injuries reported. Firefighters remain on scene for overhaul -- LADWP requested for wires down. LAFD Arson, in coordination with LAPD, will conduct the cause investigation in accordance with protocol for a fatality fire. While conducting the primary search, firefighters located a victim on the 2nd floor. Crews immediately brought the victim out to firefighter/paramedics for treatment/transport. Four patients were assessed for fire-related injuries; two (18M, 55F) were transported in fair condition. LA Dept of Building and Safety requested for structural assessment and issued a red tag for the building -- Red Cross is assisting with occupant displacement. Knockdown declared at 7:01 AM with 52 firefighters working on scene. Occupants in the building sheltered in place -- one patient (27M) was evaluated for injuries but refused hospital transport. Alvarado St. is temporarily closed to traffic in the immediate area while crews overhaul fire damage. Update Fatal Traffic Collision with Entrapment; INC#1128; 04:46PM; 100 N Chicago St; https://bit.ly/3Wdk0BK; #BoyleHeights; Multi-Vehicle Traffic Collision with a total of 5 persons involved, including two who were briefly trapped in the wreckage. They include three female adults (1 critical and 2 in serious condition) being transported by LAFD Paramedics to a regional trauma center. An additional patient who was sadly beyond medical help, determined dead and remains at the scene; as well as a fifth person who reportedly fled the scene prior to LAFD arrival. No other injuries reported.
