Strike Team Deployment - Caldor Fire; INC#0893; 03:30PM; Caldor Fire - South Lake Tahoe; https://bit.ly/3DxioYT; Downtown; In response to a request, the LAFD deployed Strike Team 1001A to the Caldor Fire to assist in the firefighting efforts underway. A strike team includes five engines and a battalion chief. Deployed are Engines 10 (Central Bureau Downtown LA), 33 (South Bureau, South Los Angeles), 227 (West Bureau, Hollywood), 39 (Valley Bureau, Van Nuys) and 75 ( Valley Bureau, Mission Hills). Greater Alarm Fire - Now Out; INC#0195; 03:15AM; 1220 S Mateo St; https://bit.ly/3zpu0Ln; Downtown; Address Tentative. It took 81 LAFD FIrefighters 55 minutes (4:10 AM) to extinguish intense flames involving a 100' x 100' outside area of stored wooden pallets. One Fire Captain sustained a non-life threatening ankle injury in the firefight, and has been taken to an area hospital in fair condition for first care. No other injuries reported. Though a section of Caltrans railing serving the nearby westbound Santa Monica (I-10) Freeway was disfigured by the fire, no other structures were damaged. Knockdown - #NaomiFire Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#1482; 10:03PM; 1376 E 18th St; https://bit.ly/3yiXngU; Downtown; Despite heavy fire, structural compromise and collapse, as well as arcing and fallen high voltage power lines, 116 LAFD Firefighters took just 2 hours and 16 minutes in defensive operations to contain and fully extinguish fire in a vacant 7,151 square-foot two-story church, built in 1903. There have been no injuries. LAFD personnel will remain at scene into the morning hours to abate hazards, further extinguish smoldering debris and support the 'still active' fire cause investigation. The structure, which in recent months housed the Christian Light Missionary Baptist Church, did not appear to be actively serving as a house of worship at the time of fire. Metro Los Angeles A (Blue) Line light rail service along Washington Boulevard between Central Avenue and Hooper Avenue will resume as soon as it is safe to do so. Update Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#1482; 08:05PM; 1376 E 18th St; https://bit.ly/3yiXngU; Downtown; Address Corrected from Washington Blvd to 1376 E 18th St, Now a Greater Alarm Structure Fire with 95 LAFD personnel assigned in Defensive Operations against an apparent exterior fire that extended into an unoccupied and apparently vacant 7,151 square-foot two-story church (built 1903) that has well involved with fire on both floors and visible structural compromise within 10 minutes of LAFD arrival. #LATraffic: To assure public and responder safety, all Metro Los Angeles A (Blue) Line light rail line service will be temporarily shut down along Washington Boulevard between Central Avenue and Hooper Avenue until LAFD emergency operations are complete. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0729; 12:24PM; 1605 E 4th St; https://bit.ly/3klji1U; Boyle Heights; KNOCKDOWN: 36 firefighters quickly initiated a fire attack and extinguished the fire in 16 minutes. A primary search did not locate any occupants and no injuries reported. The adjacent buildings were defended from any extension of the fire. The building is compartmentalized with numerous interior rooms in which firefighters are conducting a secondary search to ensure no one is inside. Cause and $ loss TBD. Knockdown - Structure Fire; INC#1771; 12:02AM; 3322 W Sunset Bl; https://bit.ly/3md9xph; Silver Lake; Though heat and smoke from the burning shed at the rear of a 20' x 100' one-story commercial building threatened the larger structure, the first arriving 36 LAFD personnel were able to prevent fire extension, extinguishing the flames in just 19 minutes.
