Crews located one patient (adult female) beyond medical help and determined death on scene. This is now a law enforcement investigation and questions are referred to LAPD Inc# 2499. Firefighters will remain on scene to determine if assistance is needed in extricating the body. The structural integrity of the building is compromised with cracks and separation in more than one wall. While the bulk of the fire is extinguished, this incident will be active for several hours. There are no injuries reported. LAFD Arson section is responding for the investigation per protocol. The incident remains at the Greater Alarm status. No further information. Firefighters instructed occupants in other nearby units to shelter in place, to protect them from smoke and toxic fumes. There were no reported injuries.
