An immediate extraction operation ensued and firefighter/paramedics accessed the patient (age/gender unknown at this time) to conduct an assessment. Unfortunately, the patient was beyond medical help and determined dead on scene. CHP and LA County Coroner will handle the investigation regarding identify and cause of death. Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#0207; 04:18AM; 520 E 9th St; https://bit.ly/3HEdono; Downtown; Firefighters found a two-story commercial structure with smoke showing and sprinkler activation. While sprinklers were holding much of the fire in check, flames had made their way up to the mezzanine, where textiles were stored. It took 92 firefighters 61 minutes (5:19 AM) to extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. Firefighters began the attack from the exterior, in defensive mode, and as the flames were quickly knocked back, transitioned to offensive mode to finish off extinguishment. Ultimately, it took 34 firefighters 18 minutes to extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0911; 02:39PM; 744 S Hartford Av; https://bit.ly/3oeINEb; Westlake; *Greater Alarm* Firefighters arrived to find fire had moved through the crawl space, walls, and into the attic inside of a vacant two-story home, adjacent to a multi-story residential apartment building. Several additional task forces responded due to the proximity of the multi-story apartment building, which was ultimately spared. Over 100 firefighters aggressively engaged in a coordinated attack, overcoming forcible entry challenges, to vertically ventilate the structure and extinguish the flames in 35 minutes. No reported injuries.
