The fire was being held in check by a sprinkler and crews knocked it down before any extension occurred. The hallways only had light smoke and residents sheltered in place. KNOCKDOWN Tree/Structure Fire; INC#1352; 06:54PM; WB 60 Tr x NB Golden State Fwy; https://bit.ly/3uqTo21; Boyle Heights; Approximately 60 palm trees caught fire adjacent to the 60 Freeway. Thankfully, the sound wall protected many nearby properties from most of the danger, but flames managed to hurdle the wall in one place and burned 5 autos, a detached garage, and (very minor damage to) a single-family home. Thirty-eight firefighters extinguished all aspects of this dynamic incident in approximately 44 minutes, without injury.
