KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0167; 05:09AM; 1530 E 16th St; https://bit.ly/3CWepDZ; Downtown; KNOCKDOWN: Over 115 firefighters battling this Major Emergency structure fire achieved a knockdown in one hour and 43 minutes. The fire was contained primarily to the unit of origin, with the two adjoining buildings defended from extension to the interior. One firefighter was transported for a minor, non-life threatening leg injury. Crews will remain on scene through the morning conducting overhaul operations. Per protocol, LAFD Arson and Counter-Terrorism Section is on scene to conduct the cause investigation. Officers will inspect the building and determine where to focus the efforts and redistribute resources as needed. No additional resources are anticipated to be needed. One firefighter was taken for first care due to a non-life threatening leg injury. There are two additional, attached structures exposed on the Bravo and Delta sides which are separated by a division wall and are being defended from extension. The 2nd exposed building appears to have only had a surface fire on the roof and did not extend into the structure. One patient, 61yo M was evaluated by firefighter/paramedics and declined LAFD transport. Cause and $ loss TBD. Structure Fire - Now Out 11/20/2021 INC#0207

Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#0207; 04:18AM; 520 E 9th St; https://bit.ly/3HEdono; Downtown; Firefighters found a two-story commercial structure with smoke showing and sprinkler activation. While sprinklers were holding much of the fire in check, flames had made their way up to the mezzanine, where textiles were stored. It took 92 firefighters 61 minutes (5:19 AM) to extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. Earthquake Mode ; INC#0367; 07:04AM; 450 E Temple; Downtown; The USGS preliminary report is a 3.9M earthquake struck the area of Maywood CA (near Vernon) at 7:01AM. The LAFD is now in earthquake mode. All 106 neighborhood fire stations will conduct a strategic survey of their districts, examining all major areas of concern (eg transportation infrastructures, large places of assemblages, apartment buildings, power-lines, etc). This survey will be conducted from the ground, air and water. Once this process is complete and reports are consolidated, assuming there is no significant damage, Earthquake mode will be complete. This process typically takes less than one hour. There are currently no initial reports of structural damage or injuries.
