Firefighters ascended the interior stairwells to locate a contents fire on the 7th floor. Firefighters quickly developed "above-ground" hose lines up to the top floor to extinguish the flames in less than 30 minutes, and then ventilated the structure to facilitate smoke removal. Structure Fire ; INC#1863; 10:58PM; 1332 S Hope St; https://bit.ly/3P90C2V; Downtown; FIRE NOW OUT: 32 firefighters extinguished the fire in 13 mins with no injuries reported. Upon arrival at the six story apartment building, there was nothing showing. Firefighters initiated an investigation and located fire in a unit on the 5th floor, being held in check by a sprinkler. After fully extinguishing the fire, crews conducted a search and did not locate any occupants. Firefighters will remain on scene conducting a dewatering operation (from fire sprinkler activation). Once the bulk of the blaze was out, firefighters transitioned to the offensive mode to reach the remaining pockets of fire on the 2nd floor. Update Structure Fire; INC#1650; 11:05PM; 1501 E 17th St; https://bit.ly/3JnHLQA; Downtown; With over 70 firefighters assigned to the incident, the bulk of the fire was extinguished in 34 minutes with no injuries reported. The fire was in one section of the building and prevented from extending to an adjacent building. There is an exposed gas line which firefighters are allowing to burn (the safest method as it can not be extinguished until leak is secured) while awaiting the gas company. An official ‘knockdown’ not declared but the incident is transitioning out of an active firefight. Firefighters will remain on scene for an extended duration overhaul due to the gas line. Therefore drivers are advised to avoid the area through the night. Building type updated to an approximately 100' x 50' commercial building with four distinct occupancies under one common attic. The initial fire attack quickly extinguished the contents fire on the first floor and continued up the mezzanine and into the attic to extinguish any extension of the fire. The adjacent, exposed buildings were defended from any damage. There are no injuries reported. Cause and $ loss TBD.
