Rubbish Fire - Now Out; INC#1373; 05:06PM; 403 E 5th St; https://bit.ly/3JA4flo; Downtown; Outside fire which extended to the plywood boarding and rolling-steel door on a one-story 50' x 100' commercial building. The commercial building on fire in turn exposed a three-story, mixed residential/commercial building (also boarded up). Firefighters quickly extinguished the outside fire and ensured there was no further extension of fire to the two buildings. No injuries or occupants reported. Structure Fire - NOW OUT; INC#0805; 01:25PM; 928 S Broadway St; https://bit.ly/3vKtbQx; Downtown; Firefighters responded to an 11-story residential high rise and located an auto fire on the P4 level which cause smoke to infiltrate up to the 7th floor. Firefighters extinguished the auto fire (at 1:59PM) with no injuries reported and no damage to the structure. Crews are now addressing a water evacuation issue and ensuring the building is cleared of smoke. Traffic will be closed on Broadway between 9th and 10th until crews are clear. Firefighters deployed the aerial ladder to the unit's window to extricate one occupant (who was standing in the window. There primary and secondary searches were clear. Firefighter/paramedics are evaluating the patient for any injuries. The RS3 Robotic Firefighting Vehicle is on scene to assist with reaching remaining pockets of fire in areas that are not safe for firefighters to enter. There are no injuries reported. Per protocol for a Major Emergency incident, LAFD Arson is on scene for the cause investigation. The fire extended to the adjacent large, commercial building. Due to heavy storage load, firefighters were not able to reach the seat of the fire. Additional resources are enroute.
